The Governor of the Indian state of Kerala, Penarai Vijayan, explained that the situation of the citizens of his state in the United Arab Emirates is getting worse, noting that their number reaches about one million out of the 2.8 million Indian workers in the Emirates.

Vijayan said in a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 9, and Al Jazeera Net obtained a copy of it, that he had received numerous complaints about the inappropriate conditions of the community regarding the conditions of the quarantine in the country.

He added that most of the workers' complaints confirm that the measures taken regarding prevention and the methods of quarantine adopted against them in Dubai are "ineffective" and "inappropriate".

Vijayan added that most of the workers from the Kerala region are classified as "blue collar workers" who perform tiring jobs, and live in crowded places in the Emirate of Dubai, and therefore the chances of spreading the Corona virus among them are very high.

He stressed in the message that the Kerala government is "very concerned" about the safety of workers and their living conditions, stressing the need for the Indian authorities to expedite the issue with the UAE government to ensure adequate food and medical services within the framework of quarantine for the entire Indian community in the Emirates.
