Research has shown that the Corona19 virus has spread to three different forms and has spread worldwide.

The most prevalent in East Asia, including Korea, is Corona 19 type B. Reporter Kim Hyung-rae reports what this research can tell.

A paper published by the University of Cambridge research team in the United States National Academy of Sciences newsletter.

The team revealed that three types were identified by analyzing the genes of the virus from 160 corona19 patients worldwide from December to last year.

It is derived from bats in Wuhan, China, but is mainly found in the United States and Australia. Type A is a type B that is prevalent in East Asia, including Korea and China, and type C, which is prevalent in Europe.

[Peter Foster / Professor of Genetics, Cambridge University: The first virus, type A, did not spread very much in Wuhan, China, but rather the type B was prevalent.]

Experts say the study is a step forward in analyzing not only genes, but also the basic components of the proteins they produce.

[Lee, Geun-Hwa / Professor, Department of Microbiology, College of Medicine, Hanyang University: Because we can see the difference in protein, we can now develop parts that we can understand more about pathogenicity and propagation power.]

However, it is also said that the regional classification is not precise.

This is because type B, which is in China and Korea, was also found in the United States and Canada, and European type C was also found in Korea and Singapore.

Experts say the study will help to develop a variety of therapeutic drugs or vaccines to match the characteristics of Corona 19, which is highly deformed, although it is insufficient to fully account for the differences in propagation and mortality across countries.
