This ferry recovered the boater in difficulty off Cap-Ferret, Sunday morning. - Atlantic Maritime Prefecture

He was returning from a round the world trip alone, when he found himself in difficulty. A boater from Pornic (Loire-Atlantique) was rescued Sunday morning off Cap-Ferret (Gironde) by a Britanny Ferries ship.

The maritime prefecture of the Atlantic says that the Cross (Regional Operational Center for Surveillance and Rescue) of Etel, was informed during the night of Saturday to Sunday, that the sailboat Loulette was damaged in propulsion, and was undergoing a track of water. On board, a single skipper, returning from an attempt to circumnavigate the world, started before confinement, of course.

Sailboat still drifting

The Etel Cross first diverted the Celandine merchant ship to rescue the yachtsman, located exactly 278 km from the coast of Cap-Ferret. Then he called the Britanny Ferries Cape Finistère ferry, which picked it up at 5:50 am on Sunday morning. He was to drop it off at Ouistreham, in Normandy.

The sailboat was still adrift, and a warning message was sent to professional sailors who could be located in the area.

The Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic, recalls that skippers who left at sea before confinement can obviously return to the quay without difficulty. To prepare for their return, they must contact the delegation to the sea and to the coast of their destination port.
