No Hirak this Friday… or almost! This is what we can read on the page of the Collectif de la société civile, on social networks.

Faced with the danger posed by the gatherings, in the current health context , the member organizations of the collective call on the Algerians to change their operating mode and take a break from the weekly marches. But the Collective calls on the inventiveness of the population to continue spreading its messages: by hanging flags on the balcony, for example, or chanting slogans without leaving home.

In recent days, calls in this direction have multiplied, even if the idea of a break in the steps divides the participants in the Hirak. Some fear that this will mark the end of the protest movement.

For his part, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune banned rallies and marches on Tuesday, whatever their form and nature, as part of the measures announced to fight against the coronavirus. They include in particular the closure of all land borders, and the suspension of flights carrying travelers, to and from Algeria.
