Frenchman Sébastien Ogier won his first success of the season in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and the first with Toyota in Rally Mexico, which ended Saturday evening rather than Sunday due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The six-time world champion takes the lead in the driver classification at the same time.

At the end of the 21st special (instead of 24), he was ahead of the Estonian Ott Tänak (Hyundai), 2nd, by 27 sec 8/10 and the Finnish Teemu Suninen (M-Sport Ford), 3rd, by 37 dry 9/10.

The third round of the season was cut short by its organizers on Saturday, "in consultation with all the teams, the International Automobile Federation and the promoter of the WRC", due to the travel restrictions imposed following the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 75 percent of the distance of the event having been covered, the usual points scale will be allocated according to the final classification, minus the bonus points of the Power Stage, scheduled for Sunday, which will not be contested.
