Yesterday, the Russian State Duma, the lower house of parliament, gave final approval to constitutional amendments that would allow the president, Vladimir Putin, to run for president again in 2024, which is prevented by the current constitution.

The assembly, which includes 450 seats, voted in favor of the amendments in the third and last reading with 383 votes in favor, and no deputy voted against the amendments, but 43 deputies abstained from voting, and 24 deputies were absent from the session.
