“If a man and a woman lived together for at least three years (or at least one year if they had a common child) and ran a joint household, then such a relationship after the death of a participant in the SVO can be recognized as a marriage through the court in a special proceeding,” explained the head of the working group on special operation issues Andrey Turchak.

According to him, after the court's decision, the woman will receive the right to inheritance and benefits.

Turchak noted that the bill will have a retroactive effect and will apply to relationships that arose before its adoption.

Earlier, the Duma introduced amendments on benefits for SVO participants when enrolling in colleges.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it is important to provide equal rights to all participants in the special operation.
