Villeurbanne returned to victory in the Euroleague by defeating Bayern Munich 75 to 65 after six consecutive defeats on Tuesday at the Astroballe.

ASVEL, which had lost in particular its last three games to its supporters, took advantage of the arrival of one of the weakest teams in the competition to improve its balance sheet a bit (9 wins, 14 losses).

Bayern is a red lantern (with Berlin and Saint Petersburg) after eight defeats in nine games and has shown a low level of basketball, especially in attack (22 lost balls).

The Villeurbannais erased the affront of the first leg in Bavaria, where they had been crushed by 41 points.

They remain in the second half of the classification and will have to continue if they want to return to the race for the play-offs reserved for the first eight.

The players of Zvezdan Mitrovic, who have seemed to suffer in recent weeks from the accumulation of matches, waited until the last quarter (21-14) to finally break away thanks to a good defensive effort.

In attack, the most effective were point guard Jordan Taylor and interior Adreian Payne (15 points each). On the Bayern side, it was the French international Mathias Lessort who finished top scorer with 14 points.

The defending French champions, and leaders of the current regular season, will now face a difficult series of three trips to Vitoria from Thursday, to Olympiakos and to Khimki Moscow.
