He noted that the relatives of the victims of the crash will receive compensation from Ukraine’s International Airlines, as well as insurance companies.

“Despite this, the Ukrainian government will allocate an additional 200 thousand hryvnias ($ 8.3 thousand) to each family affected by this tragedy,” Goncharuk said in a video message on Facebook.

The Ukrainian prime minister also promised to provide Ukrainians with legal assistance in preparing statements of claim.

“Our diplomats are already working to ensure that, using all methods available in international law, to obtain compensation from the Iranian side,” the head of government of Ukraine assured.

Earlier, the leader of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in his video message to the nation promised that all those responsible for the crash of the Ukrainian plane in Tehran will be punished.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani promised to send a special representative to Ukraine to officially express regret over the emergency with the Ukrainian airliner, which was mistakenly shot down by the Iranian military in Tehran.

Boeing 737 crashed on January 8, shortly after taking off from Tehran airport, killing 176 people - citizens of Iran, Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, Afghanistan, Germany and the UK.
