Haiti: testimony of Marie-Denise Joacius, survivor of the January 2010 earthquake

On January 12, 2010, an earthquake of magnitude 7 on the Richter scale devastated the capital of Haiti and the city of Jacmel in the South. That Tuesday, at 4:53 p.m., Marie-Denise Joacius and her 19-day-old daughter are trapped in the rubble of their house located in Fort National, a poor neighborhood in Port-au-Prince. This is the story of this young mother and Roger Morestil, her former school teacher who did everything to save her, as told to us by our special envoys to Haiti, Stefanie Schüler and Bertrand Haeckler.
