Senegalese striker Sadio Mané received the 2019 Ballon d'Or for best African player of Tuesday during a ceremony in Hurghada (Egypt).
The Liverpool player (27) is ahead of his Egyptian teammate Mohammed Salah, and the Algerian Riyad Mahrez, captain and one of the main architects of the Fennecs' victory in the African Cup of Nations. It is the first time that Mané has won this award, the last sacred Senegalese being El-Hadji Diouf in 2002.
