Chef Marc Veyrat, who had lost his trial against the Michelin Guide, summoned after losing a star, has appealed the decision made at the end of December, his lawyer told AFP on Tuesday.

Despite the decision rendered on December 31 by the Nanterre regional court, the famous cook with a hat still considers that by demoting his restaurant from Manigod (Haute-Savoie) La Maison des Bois from three to two stars, the red guide has made "a mistake".

He therefore appealed because the decision of the TGI "contains many points of criticism, appearing to be unfounded in law", according to his counsel Emmanuel Ravanas.

An appeal deemed "regrettable" by Richard Malka, lawyer for the Michelin Guide. "But we will once again demonstrate the futility of Mr. Veyrat's requests," he reacted to AFP.

At first instance, the Savoy cook had asked to be able to obtain proofs of the guide's inspections and the skills of his inspectors, as well as "the trace of the debates" which led to the decommissioning of his establishment in January 2019.

After discussions deemed fruitless, Marc Veyrat had asked for his dereference. In vain, which had pushed him to bring the gastronomic guide to justice. The chief asked for a symbolic euro for his damage.

However, the TGI considered that the documents produced were "insufficient to demonstrate the existence of a legitimate reason such as to justify a disproportionate interference with the independence of assessment constituting the inspectors' freedom of expression of the guide ".
