The head of the town hall of Dreux (Eure-et-Loir) injured Friday by the shooting of a man who committed suicide, was placed in an artificial coma but his days are not in danger, indicated, this Saturday, the prosecutor of the Republic of Chartres.

"It is clearly a private drama" linked to a separation, the shooter's wife, director of human resources at the town hall, having announced to her husband the day before, her intention to leave to go and live with her colleague, said Rémi Coutin, on the sidelines of a press conference.

"His days a priori not in danger"

Armed with a hunting rifle that he had hidden under his jacket, the 49-year-old man, project manager at Dassault Systèmes in the Paris region and father of three children, presented himself around 9:30 am at the town hall of Dreux to request an appointment with the Director General of Services (DGS). The husband finally forced his way to the office of his rival on the first floor. The man then opened fire on one occasion, wounding the town hall official in the left thigh, before shooting himself in the chin, said the prosecutor. The shooter, hunter and sport shooter, had a license to carry weapons.

"The victim, aged 51, was placed in an artificial coma until Monday and his days seem a priori not in danger even if we could not have a written medical certificate on his situation," said Rémi Coutin, adding that the death of the perpetrator automatically led to the termination of the criminal proceedings.
