One of the most award-winning revelations of the year is Commission Review and SVT News. The disclosure of Swedbank, which is suspected of money laundering through its Estonian office for nearly a decade, has led to investigations now underway and that the CEO Birgitte Bonnesen was fired this spring.

In the article below you can read about some of the publications from us on the local news in the West that affected society or people in Västra Götaland during the past year. A couple of reviews have taken time to complete.

In the revelation about the children's hospital, for example, the reporter went through thousands of documents and was thus able to show an under-checking of invoices, procurements that broke the law and tax money that was wasted. All this in a construction project that cost taxpayers hundreds of millions more than planned.

Our disclosures led to the region adding an independent review. The other day, the message came so that Västfastigheter could lose responsibility for the region's new construction. The proposal after the review is that a special department within the region's group offices will take over responsibility for "owner-managed investments".

An equally important mission for us on the local news is to make news that matters on a daily basis. News that points to solutions and can inspire others.

This could be, for example, the Backas school in Landvetter where discarded food becomes a school lunch, or how the renovation of the old town hall in Skara has led new arrivals to establish society.

It can also be about news where we try a little extra to explain a complicated issue, such as how Volvo's SUVs affect the climate. Or where we want to alert you to something you may not have known about, such as the problems with diagnosis of severe PMS, or that almost only men have been the main act on Ullevi.

SVT News West wants to contribute to a Västra Götaland where everyone is more curious and familiar. In 2020, we will continue to do proactive journalism leading to our own news.
