The National Board of Health and Welfare has conducted a survey of the proportion of notifications of children who are ill or suspected of danger in the country. This is when several municipalities testify that the number of reports of unrest has increased over the past ten years. In Västmanland, the proportion of unreported notifications was almost 9,000 in 2018, corresponding to 24 notifications per day

Why was 2019 the year the survey was conducted?

This is something that we at the National Board of Health have wanted to do for a long time. It was not until this year that we were given the opportunity to conduct this survey, says Therese Olmsäter, investigator.

What does the result say about Västmanland?

It is difficult to draw conclusions about different regions. What we want to highlight in this report is the national picture and the great similarities between the regions.

According to Therese Olmsäter, the mapping is an important knowledge for many actors in society. For example, police school and health care.

At the national level, 180,000 applications were made to the Social Services. This corresponds to approximately eight percent of all children in Sweden.
