Pål Jonson is today the Moderate European Political Spokesperson and 2nd Vice Chairman of the EU Committee. He was elected to the Riksdag in 2016 and before that has a long background in security and defense policy. Among other things, he has worked at the Total Defense Research Institute (FOI) and wrote his doctoral dissertation on EU defense policy.

Pål Jonson is also nominated by the moderate parliamentary group to replace Beatrice Ask as new chairman of the defense committee.
