In March 2014, Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula, which according to international law belongs to Ukraine. Now, after pressures from Russia, the US company Apple has redesigned its mapping service so that it also shows the Crimean peninsula as part of Russia, the BBC reports.

But this is only shown in Russia, and not in any other Apple phone located outside Russia.

Russia has been pressing Apple for months to change its map, but the company has instead proposed to show, as Google today does, the area that is neither part of Ukraine nor Russia.
