“At around 7:15 p.m., a border guard responded to the actions of one person suspected of illegally crossing the border east of Lucville, Arizona,” the agency said.
The statement said that "when trying to detain this person, a physical skirmish occurred and the agent fired from a firearm, hitting a suspect."
As specified, the victim was a citizen of Russia. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Phoenix with non-life-threatening injuries.
He is currently in the hospital.
