11 November 2019Two Armenian Catholic priests were killed by Isis in Qamishli, in the northeastern Syrian province of Dar ar-Zor, in an ambush claimed by the 'Islamic state' in the Busayra district, in the region under control of the Kurdish-Syrian forces .

Syrian media and local sources report. In a claim, which appeared on social networks, ISIS states that "two Christian priests were killed today by the fire of fighters of the Islamic state in the village of Tsar, in the district of Busayra, east of Dayr ar-Zor".

ISIS has published a photo of an identity document of one of the two priests. The victims, according to the Armenpress site, are the pastor of the Armenian Catholic Community of Qamishli, Father Hanna Ibrahim (also referred to as Hovsep Petoyan), and Father Ibrahim Hanna Bido (or Abraham Petoyan).

The two were traveling from Hasakah to Deir Ezzor when the terrorists shot at their car, killing them. The deacon Fati Sano, from the church of al-Hasakeh, was injured.
