Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said yesterday that Gulf security is linked to Egyptian national security, praising Kuwait's important role in facing the challenges facing the Arab nation.

This came during President al-Sisi's meeting with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said in a statement that Sisi praised the strong and special Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations, stressing Egypt's keenness to develop close and distinguished cooperation between the two countries at various levels, including enhancing trade and economic relations. The spokesman added that the Kuwaiti Prime Minister delivered Sisi a written message from the Emir of Kuwait on ways to boost bilateral relations between the two countries, based on the results of the Egyptian President's recent visit to Kuwait.

The Prime Minister affirmed the pride of the Kuwaiti government and people for their historic and close ties with Egypt and its people. The Kuwaiti side was keen to enhance cooperation with Egypt at all levels and to consult and coordinate periodically with them on various issues.

He also praised Egypt's pivotal role in the region as a key pillar for the security and stability of the Arab world, and praised Egypt's keenness to enhance solidarity among Arab countries and push forward joint Arab action.

The spokesman said that the meeting touched on various aspects of bilateral relations, as well as consultations on the latest developments in the regional arena.
