When the man was found, he must have threatened two police officers with the object and then fled the scene. Police later got control of the man who was outdoors at an address in the area.
The firearm-like object was seized and will be investigated, police say.
The man was arrested on suspicion of grossly unlawful threats, serious weapons offenses, minor drug offenses and damage.
