Playmaker Elie Okobo (21) was recalled to the French team to participate in the preparation for the World Cup-2019 basket and overcome the package of Thomas Heurtel, announced the Federation (FFBB), Thursday in a statement.
"The tricolor leader will join the France group in Lyon on Monday for the next training camp for the 2019 World Cup," said the FFBB.
It is during this course in Lyon that Vincent Collet will announce his list of 12 players selected for the trip to China and the World Cup (August 31-September 15). The staff also reserves the possibility to bring a 13th player with the group, to compensate for any loss during the tournament.
Drafted in the NBA Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2018 after two full seasons in Pau-Orthez, Elie Okobo (1.90 m, 3 selections) won the bronze at the Euro-2017 U20 and took the 4th place in the 'Euro-2018 U20.
For the position of leader, Theo Maledon, "training partner" shined in a preparation match against Tunisia Wednesday (14 points in fifteen minutes). Frank Ntilikina and Andrew Albicy are also present on the 15-screen preselection that Okobo joined on Thursday.
