Sudan's Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) President Jibril Ibrahim said in a private interview with the digital sector of the island that the regionally and internationally recognized peace platform on Darfur is the Doha Peace Agreement signed in July 2011 and that no decision has yet been made to change the platform or to set a new negotiating platform Peace, especially in Darfur.

Jibril said on the sidelines of the RUF negotiations with the forces of freedom and change in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa that the most important points being negotiated are the adoption of an administrative mechanism that controls the decision-making within the coalition of the forces of freedom and change and ensures that all partners of the forces of freedom are taken in their opinion. Reach an agreement within 48 hours.

He also pointed out that it was agreed on the formation of a central body and a central authority whose powers will be represented satisfactorily, with the formation of an advisory council and an executive body to carry out daily administrative work, because the forces of freedom and change will represent the governing coalition of Sudan in the transitional period.

He stressed that the Revolutionary Front was absent in the forces of freedom and change, and now is re-represented satisfactorily, noting that the political agreement, which was initialed last week ignored important issues, such as peace and the status of marginalized areas and vulnerable groups in society.

Below is the full text of the dialogue:

What are the differences between you in the Sudanese Revolutionary Front and the forces of freedom and change, and how can they be overcome?
There are no differences. There are two issues that we have come to address. The first is an administrative mechanism that governs decision-making in the Alliance of Forces of Freedom and Change and ensures that all partners of the forces of freedom and change are taken in their opinion.

We have formed a central body and a central body where the basic forces are represented satisfactorily and the formation of an advisory council and an executive body that carries out daily administrative work. The importance of this structure is because the forces of freedom and change represent the ruling coalition in the transitional period.

We want the coalition of forces of freedom and change to be supportive of the government, and not to allow the government to be confused or conflicted among them.

The RUF was absent in the forces of freedom and change, and now it has been re-represented satisfactorily.

The political agreement that was signed in the initials ignored important issues such as peace and marginalization, and the vulnerable groups in society did not find the appropriate space in this agreement.

If you require the formation of the government after resolving the issues of war and peace, do not you think that would prolong the handover of power?
Peace issues need to be a priority in the agreement, and these issues are being sought in the framework of the agreement, which has been signed as an agreement acceptable to all.

Giving priority to the peace process is one of the problems we are talking about with our partners at home. They see the issue of forming a government as important. Democracy is a priority. Peace is a success. We told them that we have experiences in Sudan. We revolutionized 1964 and we changed the peace. Also in 1985, we renegotiated peace, and it continued until the south separated. Now it is better to give priority to peace.

The forces of freedom and change believe that the formation of a democratic transitional government is a priority, and that peace comes later.

I am optimistic about reaching an agreement that will be announced. It will take more than 48 hours. What we are negotiating with the forces of freedom and change has nothing to do with the peace process in Darfur.

The Doha Peace Agreement is the basis of a sound process that has been the subject of agreement by most movements, including your movement. Could it be a reference in your discussion and negotiation with the forces of freedom and change?
Until now, the platform adopted by the regional and international organizations (the United Nations, the African Union and the Arab League) has been the Doha forum, and no decision has yet been made to change the platform or to set a new platform for negotiating peace, particularly in Darfur.

There is another platform in Addis Ababa that specializes in the Blue Nile and the Nuba Mountains. When peace comes, people look at the appropriate platform, but as I said, the platform is the Doha forum. There is talk here and there about other platforms but it is not approved.

How can you understand the armed movements that have signed agreements with the Sudanese government in Doha?
Therefore, there is now no so-called armed movement that has a binding agreement for any future government, but the projects that have come through the agreements are ongoing projects, and any body that has been obliged to proceed with these projects to the end.

There are parties that accuse you of changing your attitude towards the agreement after a dinner invitation from the Embassy of Qatar in Addis Ababa. What is your comment?
We are a completely independent movement. There is no one in the world who dictates conditions to us. We are not a party that can change its principled positions because of dinner, our positions are fixed, and our relationship with Doha is an official, approved platform.

We do not oppose anyone or take positions against any party, we are working to find a suitable platform for the requirements of the people of Sudan and Darfur and benefit them, and this is all we want.
