Lucas Pouille (27) will meet Roger Federer in the third round of Wimbledon after qualifying on Thursday following his victory over Grégoire Barrère (117), 6-1, 7-6 (0), 6-4.

The French, semi-finalist of the Australian Open this year, and quarter-finalist in London in 2016, escaped without a hitch of a particular match against one of his friends. The two players have known each other for many years, and train regularly together.

Outside the second set which ended in the tie-break, the North has largely dominated the meeting, and has chained two victories in a row against one of his compatriots: he had released Richard Gasquet in the first round.

Lucas Pouille will then face Roger Federer in the third round, titled eight times in London, and looking for a 21st Grand Slam title. The Swiss got rid in the second round in three sets 6-1, 7-6 (3), 6-2 of the British Jay Clarke.
