Three national students studying at the Institute of Applied Technology have developed an emergency mechanism that automatically turns on the emergency signal when the speedometer fails, allows automatic control of the vehicle, and gradually reduces speed until the vehicle stops.

The students: Mansour Al-Iwaha, Abdullah Al-Awadhi and Saud Al-Hashemi, were chosen by their inventions to take first place in the "Science in Science" competition in the category of transportation systems and road safety.

They explained to «Emirates Today»: «The mechanism is a device installed in the car, and separates the car automatically when the failure of the speedometer, and innovation is an electronic circuit between the battery of the car and the pump oil, and if the driver can not reduce the speed, Button to turn on the device to disconnect the oil pump, which leads to mandatory stopping of the vehicle ».

The students pointed out that the mechanism has the ability to communicate with the police as soon as the button is pressed. A police message is sent to the location of the vehicle, the power of the vehicle is separated to stop the oil pump and the engine is turned off. The speed of the vehicle begins to decline until it stops. GPS, phone slide, and LCD display to show signal immediately once sensor is faulty.

"The mechanism begins when the speedometer is disrupted. The sensors identify the faults and warn the driver that there is a malfunction in the speed control of the vehicle," he said.
