The party of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky "Servant of the People" relies on libertarianism. Such a statement was made by the representative of the head of state in the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk.

“The ideology of our party is based on the ideology of our party ... We began to form our relations with him (Zelensky. - RT ) - the liberal economic model, the liberal model of relations with the corresponding national characteristics,” he said in an interview with the Left Bank.

Moreover, the task of the presidential party, according to Stefanchuk, is to offer the population an “open, responsible and understandable” policy. Ukrainian libertarians intend to use “digitalization and open society” for this.

For Kiev, this is a feasible task, I am convinced Stefanchuk. For this, “it’s enough to provide every grandmother in the village with smartphones,” explained a member of the Zelensky team.

The newly elected president himself dreams of a “country in a smartphone”.

“How cool it would be when you go to work and not only receive news and watch what the weather is, but really control what bills are submitted, you can change them, which dudes were elected, how you can withdraw, what petitions would be prepared, how you can supplement this or that bill. Therefore, I really dream of our “country in the smartphone”, so that we are the first in the world, ”he said.

Self-removal of the state

Recall that the representatives of the movement adhere to the principle of self-belonging, when each person freely disposes of himself and his own work. Taxes and antitrust laws are considered violence committed by the state. According to the concept, almost all issues of social security and the life of the country are regulated by the “invisible hand of the market”, while the state provides legal and military protection of the population.

A separate issue of libertarian ideology is a question of ownership. Since the state is assigned a very modest role, the first one to discover a natural resource will remain its owner. The state will not be engaged in redistribution in favor of the less well-off segments of the population.

"I did not hear anything libertarian"

According to a 2014 Pew Research poll, only 11% of those who called themselves libertarians could correctly determine what it means.

Thus, 41% of respondents are convinced that the authorities should regulate business, 38% supported state support for the poor, and 46% condemned the super profits of corporations. All these points contradict the basic tenets of libertarianism - the state needs to get rid of regulation, and business and people can and should earn by any means any means.

The news of the libertarian ideology of the party “The Servant of the People” surprised the representatives of this movement. Mikhail Svetov, a member of the unregistered Libertarian Party of Russia, noted that he had never heard anything libertarian from Zelensky.

“Of course, I am always ready to be pleasantly surprised, but the sudden course of Ukraine on supposedly libertarianism makes me anxious. I have never heard anything libertarian from Zelensky before, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Moreover, Stefanchuk's statements are also not related to libertarianism, Svetov is convinced. In his opinion, this is more like “a manifesto for all good against all bad.”

The leader of the political party "Successful Ukraine", the former Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the country, Igor Shevchenko hopes that Stefanchuk "was mistaken with the term." He pointed out that ideology dictates the refusal to establish the minimum wage and the legalization of almost all drugs.

“Classical liberalism, and especially libertarianism, are anti-people political theories that lead to the impoverishment and social insecurity of the majority of the population,” he wrote on Facebook.

Other netizens also criticized Stefanchuk’s statement. So, if libertarianism allows self-determination, then Kiev must recognize the self-proclaimed LC and DNR, noted user Surovtsev Viktor.

“Libertarians seek to maximize political freedom and autonomy, with an emphasis on freedom of choice. The LDNR made a choice - the libertarian choice, ”he wrote on Twitter.

At the same time, the Zelensky team allowed the use of force to resolve the conflict in the east of Ukraine, while libertarianism considered this unacceptable.

Zelensky chose libertarianism — a light, philosophical form of the “Epatian method” (we recall the old joke from the USSR).

As adherents of virtually unlimited freedom, libertarians advocate the abolition of all bans on the possession of weapons. Zelensky himself is a staunch opponent of the free distribution of weapons.

“Pro weapons do not fit. Zelensky against possession, and libertarians for. They have a selective libertarianism, it is immediately obvious that it is a caste, ”wrote the user mangust.

In a situation where the country is in a state of poverty, such a policy will only worsen the situation, says user Alexandr Horoshev.

“Libertarianism is exactly what is needed in a poor country. Type the rich first ate everything in common, and now let everyone eat his own, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Later, Stefanchuk was asked what exactly he meant by libertarianism. He stated that the implementation of the ideology will take into account "national characteristics, mentality and traditions."

“We are creating our own path that others will stick to,” said the presidential representative in the Verkhovna Rada.
