The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) monitors the behavior of drivers by means of an intelligent application to analyze the causes and circumstances leading to the commission of wrongful practices in order to identify the most important possible future measures to limit such practices to ensure the safety of road traffic.

The TRA decided to collect data and information on the behavior of drivers through the use of intelligent application, which can store the data to be analyzed on the condition of the driver and performance and interaction with road users during the driving of the vehicle.

"The system used in the application monitors the behavior of motorists in Dubai in terms of speed, deviation and sudden braking," said Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, executive director of the Licensing Agency. "The application will convert driver behavior data to system servers, Applications of artificial intelligence to identify the cases of drivers overstepping and their relevance to their ages, the most frequent times and places to occur, and professional backgrounds, which enhances the efforts of research and development.

In a press release, the TRA announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tata Consultancy Services Limited to enhance research and development cooperation for intelligent monitoring through the experimental use of technical systems to analyze the behavior of vehicle drivers through the application of intelligent application.

Al-Ali said that the signing of the memorandum comes within a three-month pilot framework. The Smart Data Logger is loaded on Android phones including the GPS navigation system and nine IMU modules for different categories of volunteers from the Authority's drivers and university students.

He stressed that the implementation of the system comes within the framework of achieving the objectives of the Authority aimed at enhancing the safety of the road, passengers and pedestrians, by experimenting with various technologies and smart systems.
