According to the press service, the aim of the operations is "to support allies in NATO, European and African partner countries, US partners in the international coalition and the interests of the national security of the United States in Europe and Africa."
The group also includes a missile cruiser "Normandy" and several destroyers.
It is noted that within the framework of the group's stay in the Mediterranean, it is planned to work out "the whole range of maritime operations".
In August, it was reported that the Russian frigate had tracked down an American submarine in the Mediterranean.
