The first session of the 30th Arab Summit held in Tunis ended with the affirmation of the majority of the Arab leaders involved in supporting the Palestinian cause and its centrality among the Arab issues and crises and rejecting any action that affects Syrian sovereignty over the occupied Golan.

In addition to the Palestinian cause, the issue of combating terrorism was also strongly present at the opening session of the Arab summit, which was missed by about half of the Arab leaders.

Among the common points that have been present frequently in most Arab speeches are the demand for a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, and the Yemeni crisis must be resolved by a quick and effective political solution.

The issue of the Golan was characterized not only by the words of the Arab leaders but also by the recommendations and decisions issued by the summit in accordance with the preliminary leaks of the contents of the final communiqué of the summit, which confirmed the rejection of the declaration by US President Donald Trump as Jerusalem's capital and recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights .

A number of foreign guests, including the UN Secretary-General and representatives of the European Union and African Union, urged Arab leaders to unite in the face of the challenges facing their region, according to the island's correspondent at the summit, Guevara Badiri.

Looking forward to you
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said in his address to the summit that the Palestinians looked forward to Arab leaders to support the Palestinian cause. "We look forward to supporting Palestine, the first Arab issue," he said at the opening of the Arab summit in Tunis.

He criticized the American support for Israel, saying "what Palestine is witnessing repressive practices and settlement activities and strangulation of the Palestinian economy and Israel's continuation of its racist policy and act as a state above the law would not have been without the support of the US administration of the Israeli occupation."

Land Liberation
For his part, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that there is no way out of the conflict with Israel except by liberating all the Arab territories.

"The Palestinian people have their rights in an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Golan is returned to Syria and all the lands of the occupied Arab states are liberated," he said.

Relations with Iran
The Amir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, said that his country is keen on friendly relations and cooperation with Iran, based on respect for the sovereignty of countries and good neighborliness and the principles of international law.

"We are going through difficult circumstances and serious challenges, and we must stress that we will face these challenges by committing ourselves to unify our positions, strengthen our cohesion and overcome our differences.

Golan Heights
Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz stressed his country's "unequivocal rejection" of the United States' recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which it captured from Syria in the 1948 war.

"We reaffirm our unequivocal rejection of any measures that would prejudice Syrian sovereignty over the Golan Heights," the Saudi king said in a speech at the opening of the Arab summit.

Tunisian President Béji Kayed Sibsi said the Arab summit needed to reflect the importance of establishing a Palestinian state for regional stability, saying that the centrality of the Palestinian issue to Arab action must be emphasized.

The Tunisian president added that it is unacceptable for the Arab region to continue to be at the forefront of tension and terrorism in the world, stressing the need to work to end the Libyan crisis away from conflicts and through a political solution.
