Sudanese officials continued Friday to gather in the sit-in demanding the handover of power to civilians, while the military council issued new decisions and ordered the family of the isolated president to leave the presidential house in the headquarters of the General Staff of the Army.

The demonstrators stepped up their movement against the military junta, and confirmed their commitment to hand over power to civilians and stay at the sit-in until the completion of their revolution.

For its part, the military junta issued several resolutions exempting a number of government officials from the ministries of information, communications, water resources and electricity.

According to a statement by the military council, Abdul Majid Harun was dismissed from the post of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications just hours after he took office.

And the swift dismissal after a group of journalists protested the appointment of the man in this position as one of the prominent journalists in the Bashir regime.

The council also dismissed Musa Mohammed as undersecretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity, Zine El Abidine Abbas Al-Fahl as the Secretary-General of the National Council for Drugs and Poisons and Ambassador Badruddin Abdullah as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a related context, sources close to the Bashir family said that the authorities had vacated his residence in the General Command of the Sudanese army and ordered his family to leave.

According to the sources, all members of the al-Bashir family evacuated the house and went to their own homes.
