Russia is ready to become a mediator between the authorities and the opposition of Venezuela

"We said that if our efforts will be in demand, we are ready for these efforts, we have no problems with that," the diplomat quoted RIA Novosti.

He recalled that earlier Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had declared his readiness to cooperate with all political forces that show a responsible approach.

“We are ready to cooperate with international players, we are ready to use all our authority to ensure that such a dialogue is established,” continued Schetinin.

It was reported earlier that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Venezuela with the permanent members of the country's Security Council.
