“This verdict is politically motivated for a number of reasons. First, the Obolonsky Court was exclusively under the control of the leaders of Ukraine and they actually formed the evidence base of the prosecution. That is, all their witnesses are political opponents of Viktor Yanukovich, ”said Goroshinsky.
According to the lawyer, it is currently planned, in addition to national legislation, to also apply to international organizations and competent authorities.
“Naturally, we will file an appeal ... In addition, we have already applied and will apply to international organizations. In particular, the US Embassy and European institutions, so that they give us an appropriate assessment. The competent authorities of the European Union have already established that this court is politically motivated, and the criminal proceedings against Viktor Yanukovych are political persecution, ”he stressed.
Earlier, the Obolonsky district court of Kiev sentenced Yanukovychak in absentia to punishment in the form of 13 years in prison.
