DCI-Palestine presented a joint report to the United Nations investigators detailing the killings of Palestinian children by Israeli occupation forces during peaceful marches in the Gaza Strip, arguing that such behavior amounted to war crimes.

The report pointed out that Israel killed 57 Palestinian children during 2018, noting that 45 of them have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of peaceful return marches on March 30.

The report was presented to UN investigators to investigate Israel's violations of the return marches, which were set up during a special session of the UN Human Rights Council in May.

"The overwhelming majority of children killed by Israeli forces did not pose any threat to Israeli soldiers at the moment of their killing," the report said.

Israeli forces and officials were responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity and other serious violations of international law for killing Palestinian children protesting in the Gaza Strip.

Systematic violations
"Israeli soldiers are involved in systematic violations of human rights against Palestinian children because of the widespread culture of impunity among them and their prior knowledge that they will not be held accountable for their actions whatever the outcome," he said.

"UN commissioners must pursue accountability by analyzing violations of international criminal law within the jurisdiction of the ICC and naming perpetrators," he said.

The ICDC report urged the United Nations International Independent Investigation Commission to "analyze violations committed by the Israeli military and may rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity, name perpetrators, and determine and prosecute criminal responsibility."

The United Nations Human Rights Council convened a special session on 18 May 2018 in Geneva, in view of the deteriorating human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, during which it adopted a resolution establishing an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate all violations of international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory Return marches in which 151 Palestinians have been killed since its launch.

Under international law, children affected by armed conflict are entitled to special respect and protection, but the Israeli occupation forces have consistently violated this protection through indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks that result in the unlawful killing and maiming of children amounting to war crimes, according to evidence collected by the global movement To defend children.
