A member of the Development Committee of the Iranian parliament Majid Kianpour that half of the passenger aircraft in the country is worn out, calling for the modernization of the fleet of aircraft.

He said in a press statement Saturday that Iran would not be able to buy planes from Boeing and Airbus because of US sanctions, and talked about the possibility of importing aircraft from Russia and Ukraine.

Iran Air has ordered two hundred passenger planes, including 100 Boeing Airbus and 80 Boeing.

Kianpour said in remarks quoted by the Iranian Student News Agency that his country is interested in buying aircraft from Russia, but some airlines there have a partnership with US companies, making the import of aircraft from Moscow is not possible.

The US Treasury Department recently announced the names of more than 700 people, foundations, aircraft and a ship that have entered US sanctions in the second round of sanctions against Tehran.
