The winter break is up this Sunday night. After five months of interruption, thousands of families are again threatened with eviction from their homes. The Abbé Pierre Foundation organized a "punch action" in Paris.

During this winter break, which ran from November 1, a tenant could not be evicted from his dwelling, unless a decent relocation was planned for him and his family or if the premises were subject to a decree of peril.

Thousands of families are again under the threat of being homeless.
To alert the authorities to this situation of social insecurity in France, the Abbé Pierre Foundation organized this Sunday a "punch action" in Paris.

This is a scandal that must be stopped. And if we do nothing, if there is no action taken more voluntarily by the government in 2019, there will still be 30,000 people who will lose their homes, which will end up in the streets, in hotels or on friends' couches. It's really abnormal, you have to change that. 30,000 people expelled is a minimum number, it is those who are really expelled by the police. It should be known that there are two to three times more people who leave their homes during the procedure, because they are intimidated by the procedure. Today Abbé Pierre Foundation asks for an emergency plan to avoid these evictions. So, what is urgently needed is to block at least 100 million euros to double the amount of aid to maintain the FSL (Solidarity Housing Fund) managed by the departments to help people who have unpaid arrears to resorb their debts. An unpaid amount must not always result in an eviction. This is not normal. When you are threatened with deportation, you are not a criminal, so you have to have solutions. Knowing that for the state, for example, housing at the hotel far from the city center, far away from the places where people work, have their schools, their families, it's more expensive than helping people to pay their bills. rents or compensate the lessors.

More than 30,000 people expelled in 2017, how much this year? 😡

To denounce this unacceptable situation and present its proposals, the Foundation organized this morning a punch action in front of the Ministry of Housing.
