Ashraf says he has mastered painting since he was a five-year-old boy. He later joined a school in the capital in 1999 to learn painting by Mohamed Mutaimat, Tunisia's biggest plastic artist.

Ashraf received support from a Swiss association for people with special needs, provided him with painting equipment and helped him to hold art exhibitions in Switzerland for three consecutive years.

His first cartoon was cartoon characters. Until his career gradually grew until he received a certificate of professionalism awarded to the first disabled person in Tunisia.

He paints portraits of the most famous landmarks in several Tunisian regions. He has participated in several exhibitions and sold most of his paintings at simple prices, not more than eighty dollars.
