As Russia's military invasion of Ukraine and the effects of the new coronavirus continue, a local high school student and calligrapher held an event at a temple in Matsuyama City to write on a large piece of paper with wishes for world peace.

The event was planned by "Wa Project TAISHI," an organization that engages in peace activities through calligraphy and other activities nationwide, and was held at Ishite-dera Temple in Matsuyama City.

Two high school students enrolled in the calligraphy club of Matsuyama Kita High School powerfully wrote four kanji characters that mean "to be noble with harmony" in the hope that disputes will be resolved through discussion and peace will be preserved. This also expresses the hope that wars around the world will cease and that peace will occur.

Next, calligrapher Hayashi Ryuho, who lives in Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture, wrote the four characters "Tsukitoyoraku" on a large piece of Japanese paper 2.4 meters long and 1 meters wide.

This letter means that after suffering from the new corona for a long time, you want to enjoy it in the future.

Misuke Higaki, director of the calligraphy club at Matsuyama Kita High School, said, "I was nervous, but I was happy to be able to write with the hope that the world will be peaceful, and I would like to continue this kind of activity in the future."
