Drugstore giant Sundrug has announced that sites such as online shopping may have been compromised and leaked customer information for approximately 19,000 people.

According to Sundrug, from the 9th to the 11th of this month, online shopping and member sites were illegally accessed from overseas IP addresses.

As a result, unauthorized login was confirmed for 19,057 members, and personal information such as name, address, phone number, and e-mail address was viewed, and it is possible that the information was leaked.

On the 11th, the company that outsourced the system reported that the leak was discovered, so no damage such as misuse of personal information has been confirmed so far.

The company contacts customers who may have been damaged by e-mail, asks them to change their passwords, and takes measures such as blocking access from overseas where unauthorized logins have been made.

Sundrug commented, "We take the situation seriously and will strive to further strengthen security measures based on third-party organizations to prevent recurrence."
