In two mining accidents in Poland within a few days, the number of dead has risen to 19.

Another miner from the Pniowek mine in the south of the country died in the hospital on Friday night, the PAP news agency reported.

He suffered severe burns in a methane gas explosion near Katowice more than a week ago.

19 other miners are still being treated in a clinic.

In the Pniowek mine, four men died in methane gas explosions at the scene of the accident, five more in the hospital so far.

Seven people remained missing.

The search for them was stopped because they were too dangerous for the rescuers.

Ten people were trapped last Saturday after a tremor in the Zofiowka mine in Jastrzebie-Zdroj, which belongs to the same mining company JSW.

They were all found dead within several days.
