Regarding the disapproval of the design change of the relocation plan of the U.S. military Futenma base by Okinawa Prefecture, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito corrected on the 28th to approve the design change to Okinawa Prefecture by the 16th of next month based on the Local Autonomy Law. I gave the instruction.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism canceled the disapproval of the design change of the U.S. military Futenma base to Henoko, Nago City by Governor Tamaki of Okinawa Prefecture on the 8th of this month, and by the 20th of the prefecture. He recommended that the design change be approved.

On the other hand, Okinawa Prefecture responded to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito that it was not possible to make a decision by the deadline because the contents had to be scrutinized.

Under these circumstances, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Saito issued a legally binding corrective instruction to Okinawa Prefecture on the afternoon of the 28th to approve the design change by the 16th of next month based on the Local Autonomy Law.

Okinawa Prefecture is expected to consider submitting an examination to the "National and Local Dispute Resolution Committee" that mediates disputes between the national and local governments.
