Bank card funds were transferred after "screen sharing"

"Screen sharing" with strangers is extremely risky

In recent years, with the widespread use of online conferences, "screen sharing" has gradually become popular, bringing convenience to work and life, and at the same time being used by criminals to implement new types of fraud, appearing in the "Pretending to be Public Prosecutors Act" and "Express Claim Settlement". In various scams such as online shopping refunds, "cancellation of campus loans" and so on.

On September 8, the Beijing Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau issued the second risk reminder of the series of financial literacy popularization month activities, reminding consumers to play a four-part precaution against "screen sharing" scams.

Recently, Ms. Sha received an unfamiliar call beginning with "00". The other party claimed to be the "policeman" in her place of household registration and asked her to log on to the website of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China to view the "arrest warrant."

The other party said that the current case is being investigated by the police, and it is required to add the police QQ handling the case to be investigated.

After Ms. Sha logged into the website, she panicked when she saw the "arrest warrant".

Then, on the grounds of checking the flow of funds, the other party asked Ms. Sha to download a certain video conference software App, turn on the "screen sharing" function, log in to the bank account, and show the balance to the other party for verification.

The other party did not ask Ms. Sha to transfer the money to a "secure account", but asked her to transfer the money to another bank card under her own name. Ms. Sha completely trusted the other party and made the transfer.

In the process, the other party obtained Ms. Sha's face authentication, and then directly stolen the funds in Ms. Sha's bank card.

It is understood that at present "screen sharing" is also present in the "Express Claims", "Online Shopping Refunds", "Cancellation of Campus Loans" and other fraudulent routines.

It turns out that the "screen sharing" function will record all the content displayed on the screen and synchronize it for the other party to see. The criminals can monitor all the operations of the user's mobile phone in real time, including not only the process of entering the password and unlocking, but also the pop-up display. As a result, the criminals can easily obtain the victim's bank account information and SMS verification code, etc., so as to transfer the funds in the victim's card.

Four Steps to Prevention

Stay away from "screen sharing" scams

First of all, we must know the risks.

"Screen sharing" with a stranger is extremely risky. The other party can clearly see all the content that appears on your screen. You need to be vigilant. Don't trust the criminals to say anything, and don't give the criminals a chance.

Secondly, it should not be shared.

Improve the awareness of personal information protection, do not open "screen sharing" with strangers, do not open payment software, bank account and other operation interfaces or perform related operations involving input of passwords, transfers and remittances under the condition of "screen sharing".

In addition, biometric information related to your face, fingerprints, iris, etc. must not be leaked to prevent important information from being snooped by criminals.

The third is to report the case quickly.

If you find yourself or your family members may be deceived, please report to the police as soon as possible and use legal weapons to protect your legitimate rights and interests.

At the same time, please call the bank's customer service hotline as soon as possible to report the card loss and stop the loss in time.

The fourth is to change frequently.

Develop the habit of protecting your own data security. It is recommended to set different user names and login passwords in different banks and different websites, and the passwords should be as complex as possible.

At the same time, it is recommended to set a different transaction password for each bank card to prevent one password from being lost and multiple accounts being damaged.
