Okinawa Prefecture has started the coral transplantation work in the sea area where the Okinawa Defense Bureau is planning to reclaim the U.S. military Futenma base off the coast of Henoko, Nago City. As soon as it is confirmed that they do not comply, we will provide administrative guidance on the 30th.

This was revealed by Governor Tamaki of Okinawa Prefecture at a press conference on the 30th.

According to this, Okinawa Prefecture dispatched staff to the site after the Okinawa Defense Bureau started transplanting coral at the planned landfill site on the 29th over the relocation work of Futenma base off the coast of Henoko, Nago city. We are proceeding with confirmation and are asking experts about the implications of transplanting during this period.

In order to increase the survival rate of coral, Okinawa Prefecture permits the application for transplantation after setting multiple conditions such as avoiding the period when the water temperature is high, and Governor Tamaki said, "I think that it does not comply with the conditions set for permitting transplantation. Therefore, I would like to give administrative guidance after confirming the local situation. "

At sea, the staff on board the prefecture's fishery patrol ship "Hayate" is checking the transplanted coral and measuring the water temperature.

In the video taken by the NHK helicopter around 10:30 am on the 30th, it was confirmed that the container was unloaded from "Hayate" and the seawater was collected near the sea area where the coral was transplanted.
