With many people dying from being infected with the new coronavirus in Tokyo, the only cremation facility in Tokyo in Edogawa Ward has decided to double the cremation frame for infected people.

Last month, the number of people who died of the new coronavirus in Tokyo was 153, about 2.8 times that of the previous month, and by the 25th this month, 127 people have died.

At the Mizue Funeral Office in Edogawa Ward, which is the only city in Tokyo, the number of cremations of people who died from infection with the new coronavirus is increasing, from 26 last month to 24th this month. There are already 70 people in Japan.

For this reason, the capital decided to double the number of cremation slots from 5 to 10 per day after the 28th.

Depending on the city, it may take up to a week to cremate at the Mizue Funeral Office, and cremation is increasing at private facilities.

In addition, there are cases where people who have died due to infection are kept at medical institutions for a long time, and the city says, "I want to increase the number of cremation slots and reduce the burden on medical institutions."
