52 years since the Asama Sanso Incident: Memorial ceremony for police officers killed in the line of duty. The 28th marked 52 years since United Red Army rescued the hostages in Karuizawa Town, Nagano Prefecture.
In the incident, Captain Naotaka Uchida of the 2nd Riot Police Department, and Shigemitsu Takami of the Special Vehicle Unit were shot and killed. About 30 people, including police officers and local residents, offered a moment of silence and laid flowers.
