Tokiko Suzuki, a culinary researcher who appeared on the NHK program "Today's Menu" for many years and told the charm of Japanese food, died on December 28 at her home in Tokyo due to hepatocellular carcinoma.

Born in Aomori Prefecture, Mr. Suzuki learned cooking from his mother from an early age, honed his skills at home even after marriage, and became popular as a cooking class opened for neighbors and worked as a cooking researcher at the age of 46. I started.



While opening a cooking class at home, he appeared on NHK's cooking program "Today's Menu" for over 40 years, introducing the charm and depth of Japanese food, from authentic kaiseki cuisine to simple delicacies, sometimes even severely. He has a gentle and cheerful personality and was nicknamed "Baba".



He has been involved in teaching not only cooking but also etiquette, and has made efforts to inherit Japanese food culture, and won the NHK Broadcast Culture Award in 2013.



According to the bereaved family, Mr. Suzuki has been suffering from cancer and myocardial infarction since his late 80s, and he has been undergoing examinations and hospital visits, but he became ill last month and on December 28, at his home in Tokyo. He died of hepatocellular carcinoma.
