The guards of this shopping arcade in Brive (Corrèze) suspected the individual of theft, and had made a report to the police because of his threatening attitude.

As the police approached on Saturday around 2:30 p.m., the suspect exhibited a knife and stabbed a police officer several times in the chest, a police source said.

Protected by his jacket, the latter was not injured.

The young man has been in custody since Saturday
