All trains will run normally this weekend and for the duration of the school holidays, the SNCF promised on Thursday.
And this despite the establishment of an evening curfew in Ile-de-France and in eight French metropolises from Saturday.
"SNCF Voyageurs confirms that the TGV Inoui, Ouigo, Intercités, international trains and regional trains will all run as planned this weekend of October 16, 17 and 18, as well as during all the All Saints holidays," said the company in a press release.
The train ticket as proof of travel
The SNCF was still awaiting formal confirmation from the government on Thursday morning that the train ticket could be used as an authorization to travel to or from the station between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in areas affected by the curfew, specified a spokesperson for AFP.
President Emmanuel Macron assured Wednesday evening that there would be no transport restrictions during the curfew, nor travel limits between regions, adding that these measures will not prevent people from going on vacation from the All Saints' Day which begins Friday evening.
SNCF expects 5 million passengers on its mainline trains during the holidays.
