Second wave or not, the coronavirus epidemic is progressing in the Alpes-Maritimes.

The number of hospitalized patients is increasing significantly, according to the report published on Wednesday by the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur regional health agency (ARS).

One hundred and thirty-four people with Covid-19 are hospitalized, thirteen more than a week ago.

Their number is still below the level of three weeks ago.

Among them, nineteen are treated in intensive care (+1).

The resuscitation services have an occupancy rate of close to 45% according to Public Health France.

The different "rates" do not all move in the same direction

The “positivity rate” is rising sharply, going from 6.1% to 9.9% in one week according to ARS Paca.

The estimated reproduction rate of the virus is 1.2 according to Public Health France, which confirms that the epidemic is progressing, ten patients infecting an average of twelve people.

But the "incidence rate", that is to say the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is still falling.

It currently stands at 76 (against 81 a week ago and 106 two weeks ago) according to ARS Paca ... But Public Health France indicates that this rate has now risen to 116.

Faced with a situation that is slowly but surely deteriorating, the prefecture announced Monday the extension of anti-epidemic measures and even toughened one: until then prohibited "in parks, gardens, beaches and on the quays", the groups more than ten people are now banned on “the whole of the public highway” and in “places open to the public”.
