The funeral of Philippe Monguillot, the bus driver killed in Bayonne by travelers, will take place on Monday in this city, his family announced on social networks. "My husband's funeral will be Monday, July 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sainte-Croix (de) Bayonne church," wrote his widow, Véronique, on Facebook.

Father of three daughters, 18, 21 and 24, was "severely abused" on July 5, severely beaten and head injured while trying to control the ticket of one person and required the wearing of the mask for three other passengers, according to the prosecutor of Bayonne.

An "abject crime"

The assault of this 59-year-old man, who died on July 10 after five days of coma, caused indignation in the political world, aroused the visit of two ministers, Transport and Interior, while Prime Minister Jean Castex denounced a " abject crime ”.

His colleagues in the Chronobus transport network had exercised their right of withdrawal for several days and a white march gathered on July 8, about 6,000 people.

Aged 22 and 23 years and known to the police, two men are in pretrial detention and risk life imprisonment for "intentional homicide on a public transport network agent". Two accomplices in their thirties were also imprisoned, having to answer in particular for "non-assistance to a person in danger".
