Kenya and some eastern African countries are facing the worst attack in nearly 70 years, and the losses of the Horn of Africa and Yemen due to locusts could reach about 8.5 billion dollars by the end of 2020.

Scientists in Kenya are trying to devise solutions and conduct studies to confront locust swarms that are ravaging the country. Pesticides are a common method, but on the other hand they harm crops and the surrounding environment.

But Kenyan scientists have found a strange solution to the locust problem, according to Reuters, by converting it to meals for both humans and animals.

According to the Kenyan scientific team, eating and cooking locusts is the best and safest way to fight the locust.

The team used special devices and equipment that would suck and collect the locusts and then cook and grind it to be mixed with other meals.

The International Center for Insect Physiology and Environment (ICIPE) is working to promote insect eating to make it natural among the population.
